Russian Netflix users have filed a class-action lawsuit against the streaming giant's withdrawal from the Russian market, demanding 60 million rubles in damages, RIA Novosti reported on Wednesday.
Netflix Inc announced in March that it had suspended service in Russia and temporarily halted all future projects and acquisitions in the country as it assessed the impact of Moscow's invasion of Ukraine.
"Today, a law firm representing the interests of Netflix users filed a class action lawsuit against the US Netflix service in the Khamovnichesky District Court in Moscow," the RIA quoted law firm Chernyshov, Lukoyanov & Partners as saying.
Company withdraws from Russia
"The reason for the lawsuit is that Netflix violated the rights of Russian users by unilaterally refusing to provide services in Russia."

Netflix did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Since Moscow launched what it called a "military special operation" in Ukraine on February 24, many foreign companies have announced temporary closures of stores and factories in Russia or said they will leave permanently. Ukraine and the West say Russia has waged an unprovoked war of aggression against its neighbors.
