Sky News host Chris Kenny says the “Albanese government is destined to do the most harm” in fields where climate and energy are concerned.
“As you know whenever there is a weather event, as they like to call them now, the alarmists invoke global warming,” he said.
“We're hearing a lot of it lately, because of a hot spell and drought in parts of the northern hemisphere.”
He said in these reports “seldom are there qualifications and context” and if the globe is serious about cutting emissions there is a “crucial role” nuclear energy has.
Mr Kenny said, when looking into the causes of the energy crisis in Europe, he noticed approximately 15 years ago the “conservatives got a bit squeamish about nuclear power” and opted to try renewables instead of expanding.
He said former UK prime minister Sir Tony Blair was one who was able to “accurately predict how this would leave the UK exposed” when he said nuclear would only be reconsidered when renewables failed.
“Now Britain has two major nuclear plants under construction, and in a few years they will provide a very useful boost,” Mr Kenny said.
“But they were delayed too long by the obsession with renewables, and of course there should be more new nuclear plants, two more won't cut it.
“If you want reliable, affordable power, you want energy security, and you want zero emissions, nuclear is the only answer.”
