Next time you think you are having a bad day, just remember this story you about to hear....
Imagine losing everything — first your vision, along with it your livelihood, you don't even have the memory of how it all happened and then your home goes up in flames. This is Daniel’s reality. A survivor of the tragic Lahaina fire that claimed countless homes, including his at the Front Street Apartments. Daniel’s life was also forever changed when he awoke in a hospital to discover that both his eyes had been forcibly removed in what we think was a hostile involuntary organ harvest.
Can you even imagine someone taking both of your eyes? It's one thing to be born blind with a lifetime of training to cope with the disability. Losing it suddenly with no blind skills at the age of 40 while traveling 4600 miles from your home is unimaginable. Daniel is blind (he literally does not have any eyeballs) and is battling unimaginable pain, and now faces the terrifying possibility of losing his temporary FEMA housing in February and facing the world homeless.
Daniel’s life is a testament to resilience. Before his blindness, he was a skilled artist and craftsman, celebrated for his wood carvings, surfboard shaping, photography, and poetry. He lived life with passion, scaling coconut palms as a sought-after arborist and weaving intricate designs that brought joy to those around him. But now, his world has turned completely dark—physically and emotionally.
Despite this unimaginable hardship, Daniel refuses to give up. He’s taught himself how to navigate everyday life without sight, from cooking and cleaning to tending a small herb garden. With unyielding determination, he is working on creating a new path forward by weaving beautiful lampshades, hats, rugs, and even palm roses as a way to rebuild his life and inspire others.
However, his challenges are overwhelming. The Lahaina fire left him with nothing but ashes. His temporary FEMA housing offers a fragile sense of stability, but it is set to expire in just a few months. Without financial support, Daniel risks becoming homeless while still adjusting to his new reality of blindness.
Daniel is not asking for pity; he is asking for a chance to survive. He dreams of a future where he can not only sustain himself but also support other blind individuals who feel lost in their darkness. He even wants to send handcrafted items to anyone who donates—a small token of gratitude from a man who still finds ways to give, even when he has so little. Dear Maui Planning Commission Members,
I write to oppose the proposed short-term rental ban and request that you recommend its rejection. The detrimental impact of this bill is clear and unsupported by evidence of meaningful benefit. Please consider the following:
1. **Economic Devastation**: An independent study by Kloninger & Sims estimates a $1.3 billion hit to Maui's economy, with the loss of 7,800 jobs and significant tax revenue reductions. An earlier study by economist Paul Brewbaker also highlighted severe economic consequences, including the loss of 14,126 jobs and $137 million in annual tax revenue.
2. **Legal and Reputational Risks**: The bill would likely lead to prolonged litigation against Maui County, harm Maui's reputation, and discourage tourism, all while negatively impacting residents.
3. **Inappropriate for Affordable Housing**: Short-term rental properties, such as those in condominium communities, are unsuitable for affordable housing due to high association dues, special assessments, and maintenance costs. For example, annual dues at Kapalua Ridge Villas range from $19,148 to $30,264, making them impractical for affordable housing.
4. **No Planning Benefit**: Established resort areas that contribute significantly to local taxes and have not converted local housing to short-term rentals should not be included in this ban. These areas, compliant and professionally managed for nearly 50 years, support many local jobs and businesses.
5. **Local Economic Support**: Our vacation rental owners support hundreds of local workers and businesses, from property management and maintenance to local artists and restaurants. The proposed bill threatens these jobs and the economic welfare of our community.
For these reasons, we urge you to recommend rejecting the bill and ensure no short-term rental ban is applied to resort communities which play a critical role in supporting West Maui’s economy.

For those familiar with such esoteric knowledge, logos like these carry far more weight than mere brand identities; they tap into hidden spiritual and mystical realms.
The magic of symbols often lies in simple geometric shapes: the triangle, square, and circle. These three forms have been foundational to various mystical and philosophical systems, including Freemasonry, where the compass and square are key tools. These shapes are the building blocks of all logos and icons, and when combined with numerology, their significance deepens. For instance, the triangle (three sides), square (four sides), and circle (one side) add up to eight, a number with mystical significance. Eight appears frequently in our lives, from the number of hours in a day to the notes in an octave, symbolizing balance and the cyclical nature of existence.

In color theory, the combination of red (triangle), green (square), and blue (circle) can symbolize both the unity of light and the duality of opposites, as seen in the yin-yang symbol. When these colors are combined as light, they create white, while as pigments, they create black, symbolizing the balance of opposites—light and dark, above and below. This duality can also be seen in the elements: fire (red triangle), earth (green square), and water (blue circle). In alchemical traditions, combining these elements could lead to the creation of the Philosopher's Stone, an ancient symbol of transformation and spiritual enlightenment.
These symbols also find resonance in the human body, where the triangle, square, and circle represent the body’s spiritual, mental, and physical aspects. The head, associated with water, is linked to the circle, as it contains the pineal gland, which is said to be connected to spiritual insight. The upper torso, represented by the fire triangle, houses the heart and the organs of digestion, which fuel the body. Meanwhile, the lower torso, symbolized by the earth square, is tied to our physical connection with the world and the reproductive process. This symbolic alignment between the human body and these foundational shapes reveals a deeper, esoteric connection to the universe, one that can be found not only in ancient traditions but also in the logos and brands that surround us every day. The Rubik's Cube, for example, with its six sides and nine squares, encapsulates the mystery of unity and mastery, inviting us to unlock the deeper truths hidden in the world around us.

,1,Spokesman Col. Rob Phillips said on December 5 that the US Army plans to introduce the “Typhon” Strategic Mid-Range Fires (SMRF) system to the Indo-Pacific in 2024.
In announcing this, he citied previous statements made by Gen. Charles Flynn, the commander of the US Army’s forces in the Pacific.
Flynn told reporters last month at the Halifax International Security Forum that the system will be put into service

,1,Ukraine said it struck a large Russian landing warship in Crimea with cruise missiles in an overnight attack on December 26. One person was killed, two injured and the Novocherkassk landing ship was damaged in the attack, the Russian defence ministry has confirmed. The Interfax news agency cited the Russian defence ministry as saying that Ukraine had used guided missiles launched by aircraft to attack Crimean port of Feodosia. Russia said the attack could impede any Russian efforts to capture additional Ukrainian territory along the Black Sea coast.
