Chinese sailors attacked the Philippines navy in the South China Sea. Dramatic video taken on board one of the two Philippines vessels shows the chaos unfolding. Chinese sailors in orange life vests surround the Filipinos, brandishing weapons and making threats. A second video shows the attack continuing, even as the Filipinos try to treat a wounded colleague. He is lying down on the deck, and Manila says his thumb was cut off. More video taken from a nearby ship shows the Chinese having water thrown at them as the Philippines ships are towed away. Drone footage also shows one of the Filipino vessels being effectively hijacked. The incident took place in the South China Sea, which is disputed water that Beijing is trying to claim for its own. Chinese boats have been attacking Philippines vessels trying to resupply a remote outpost. But this is the most serious incident to take place to date.
