On this 5th episode of the Hip Hop Subway: The L Line - Elena Romero and Tuffy Questell continue to examine the global phenomenon that is Hip Hop from every angle and specifically thru the Latinos Lens. In this program - they get off at the 5th stop on the L line – DJ’s and Dancers! DJ's are the soul behind the beat that pleases, surprises, and puts people on the dance floor - while B-boys and B-girls - respond to those rhythms with their dope moves! But what exactly is it that makes us want to listen and dance to those beats? In this episode, you'll hear from CUNY professor and ethnomusicologist Joe Schloss who will give us the academic perspective behind DJ's and their beats. We'll also sit down with Ephrem Lopez, also known as DJ Enuff from Hip Hop radio station Hot 97; Erika Hamilton aka - DJ Tokyo Rose - one of New York City's most sought after DJ's!
