Online influencer Andrew Tate has been detained in Romania as part of a human trafficking and rape investigation.
Tate was detained alongside his brother Tristan following a police raid on his house the Romanian capital, Bucharest.
A spokesperson for the Directorate for Investigating Organised Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) told the BBC that prosecutors had applied to hold the influencer at a "detention centre" for an additional 30 days.
Tate rose to fame in 2016 when he was removed from British TV show Big Brother over a video which appeared to show him attacking a woman.

The UN Emissions Gap report indicates that if only “current policies” are implemented the world could warm by up to 3.1C.
This would be “catastrophic” for the world according to the UN, leading to dramatic increases in extreme weather events including heatwaves and floods.
The UN's predictions of temperature rise have stayed essentially the same over the past three years since countries met in Glasgow for the COP26 climate summit.

Myanmar's military junta government is facing anarmed challenge to its rule in several parts of the country.
In the Chin state in the west of Myanmar, ethnicresistance groups have managed to push the militaryjunta out of several areas near the country's westernborder and battles are currently raging as they fight togain control of more territory.
The BBC has had rare access to the state and hasseen evidence of how the Burmese army havelaunched a campaign of torture, abduction and murder to stop youngsters from joining rebel fighters.
Myanmar's military is yet to respond to the BBC'squestions about these allegations.
The BBC's Yogita Limaye reports from western Myanmar.

He was speaking to UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak during an unusual "in conversation" event at the end of this week's summit on AI at Bletchley Park, in England.

,1,Taiwan is holding presidential and parliamentary elections on Saturday, closely monitored by China, which considers the island a Chinese province despite Taiwan's rejection of Beijing's sovereignty claims. Taiwan, having struggled for decades to establish democracy and end authoritarian rule, will see three main parties competing: the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), the Kuomintang (KMT), and the Taiwan People's Party (TPP), established in 2019.
Currently, the DPP holds a majority in parliament with 63 seats, while the KMT has 38 and the TPP has five. The DPP advocates for Taiwan's separate identity from China, rejecting Beijing's claims and emphasizing the right of Taiwan's people to determine their future. The KMT, which fled to Taiwan in 1949 after losing a civil war with the Communists, seeks close ties with China but denies being pro-Beijing. The TPP aims to re-engage with China.
Other smaller parties, such as the pro-independence Taiwan Statebuilding Party and the overtly pro-China New Party, are also participating in the parliamentary elections. However, their chances of securing seats are limited. Three presidential candidates are in the running: DPP's Vice President Lai Ching-te (also known as William), KMT's New Taipei City Mayor Hou Yu-ih, and TPP's former Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je.
Vice President Lai has consistently led opinion polls leading up to the election. New polls have been restricted from publication since January 3, in adherence to election law. The newly elected president will take office on May 20, serving a four-year term with the possibility of a maximum of two consecutive terms. The president holds key roles such as commander-in-chief of the military, appointing the premier who forms the cabinet, and signing legislation into law.

This test, believed to be a world-first, has the potential to facilitate high-speed, long-range flights with enhanced efficiency.
The experiment took place at the Research Center in Niskayuna, New York, where the company is actively advancing a wide-ranging portfolio of technology initiatives aimed at advancing and expanding hypersonic capabilities which includes the development of high-temperature materials and high-temperature electronics.

In a statement, the prince's spokesperson said the "relentless pursuit" in New York lasted for over two hours.

,1,Online influencer Andrew Tate has been detained in Romania as part of a human trafficking and rape investigation.
Tate was detained alongside his brother Tristan following a police raid on his house the Romanian capital, Bucharest.
A spokesperson for the Directorate for Investigating Organised Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) told the BBC that prosecutors had applied to hold the influencer at a "detention centre" for an additional 30 days.
Tate rose to fame in 2016 when he was removed from British TV show Big Brother over a video which appeared to show him attacking a woman.
