Putin was on his first visit to North Korea in 24 years, where he is believed to be seeking weapons for his country's war effort in Ukraine.
Ties between the countries have warmed in recent months, with Pyongyang and Moscow signing a mutual defence pact amid deteriorating relations with the west.
