,1,A Tampa Police Reserve Officer says his department-issued service weapon fired without pulling the trigger, seriously injuring him. The 30-year veteran of the force is now suing the company that manufactures the firearm. Last February, Bob Northrop was working an extra duty assignment as a TPD Reserve Officer patrolling Jefferson High School during a baseball game. Northrop says he was standing just feet from students and their families when his hand brushed his holstered service weapon. The 69-year-old needed emergency surgery after a 9mm hollow-point bullet shattered his leg and ankle, causing permanent injuries.Last week, Northrop and his legal team filed a civil suit against gun maker Sig Sauer "…for the design, manufacture, sale, distribution, inadequate warnings related to an unreasonably dangerous and defective firearm." The suit says the P320 handgun can fire with just a bump, tap, vibration or drop. Putting officers and everyone around them at risk of being shot, injured or killed. FOX 13 News reached out to both the Tampa Police Department and Sig Sauer about this lawsuit. TPD says it does not comment on pending litigation, and so far, Sig Sauer has not gotten back to us.

,1,South African Justice Minister Ronald Lamola outlined his country's case at the United Nations’ top court Thursday accusing Israel of genocide against the Palestinians in Gaza.
South African lawyers said during the opening arguments that the latest Gaza war is part of a decadeslong oppression of the Palestinians by Israel. Israel has vehemently denied the allegations. South African lawyers asked judges to impose binding preliminary orders on Israel, including an immediate halt to Israel’s military campaign in Gaza.
Minister Lamola said the Oct. 7 Hamas attack from Gaza into southern Israel that killed around 1,200 people and saw some 250 others taken hostage by militants is "no justification for any form of genocide."
"We believe that without the intervention of this court from the international community, we will see the total destruction of the Palestinian people in Gaza," he added.
Israel’s air, ground and sea assault in Gaza has killed more than 23,000 people, two-thirds of them women and children, according to the Health Ministry in the Hamas-ruled territory. The count does not differentiate between civilians and combatants.

Three self-described FBI whistleblowers who are key to the Republican narrative that the FBI is weaponized against conservatives will testify in a House hearing on Thursday, the latest escalation of House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan’s investigation into allegations of discrimination and bias within the FBI.
The hearing comes one day after the FBI said it revoked the security clearances of three agents who either attended the January 6 2021, riot at the US Capitol or espoused alternate theories about the Capitol attack, according to a letter the FBI sent the subcommittee on Wednesday, a copy of which was obtained by CNN.
At least two of those agents – Marcus Allen and Steve Friend – are among the individuals testifying before the panel on Thursday.

In a short speech full of vitriol, Mr Putin vowed to bring the organisers of the revolt "to justice".
But he called regular Wagner troops "patriots" who would be allowed to join the army, go to Belarus or return home.
He did not directly name Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin, who earlier denied trying to overthrow Mr Putin's regime.
